“Skatne — All Together”
To need to feel “included” is basic to human nature, and it implies being a part of something, in essence being “embraced”. In a school system, it is a set of beliefs and values, a philosophy of education that is the foundation and structure of the school. Inclusion builds the school as a community of learners, where everyone has a role and a voice, and where everyone matters.
Inclusion is built on the following assumptions:
- Each child can learn and be successful
- Diversity enriches us all.
- Students at risk can overcome that risk by involvement in a caring community of learners.
- Each child has unique contributions to offer.
- Each child has strengths and needs.
